Real Numbers

  • The following fractions share a common denominator: 1/6, 2/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, 6/6.
  • 1/6 is a recurring decimal.
  • Janice concluded that all other fractions with denominator are also recurring decimals.
  • Do you agree? Explain...
No, I do not agree with Janice's conclusion.
I do not agree as 3/6 can be reduced to 1/2 which is 0.5, 6/6 can be reduced to 1. These two numbers have 6 as their denominators but are not recurring numbers

My Reflections For Chinese New Year Hamper

(1)  What are we doing? What have we done?

We are actually doing a Chinese New Year hamper for the elderly to celebrate the new year. We have collaborated money for the class fund to buy"goodies" for the elderly. We have also gained a bit of knowledge about the elderly surrounding us.

(2How do we think that we are affecting the recipients of the hamper? What will be different for them?

I think we are affecting them by giving them a joy that they savour. Well, in my opinion they lives will be forever cheery and maybe it's only for that moment but I am glad that we made a difference. They will also be able to understand that there are people out there that are willing to lend them a listening ear, carry their burden and even sympathise with them.

 (3) What could be our next step to care for this group of recipients?

Our next step could be making visits to them and helping them to maybe decorate their place or their home. We can do this as they have been either abandoned by their family members and have not much to do so we can actually cheer them up. They would also be delighted to see the younger generation helping out.
